Left my room at about 17:20 and went down to grab some dinner on campus before walking to Bache station. Got to the station at about 18:00 and got the 18:13 train to Moorfields where I changed trains to go to Sandhills. Would've walked to the ground normally but as it was pouring with rain and I wasn't 100% sure which way it was I decided to get on the hopper bus from the station which dropped me off about 5 mins from the ground. Got to the ground at about 19:40 and walked round the ground before going in. Stood in the WBA end as I am unable to get ticket in home end unless I become a member. The 1st half wasn't the greatest with Liverpool having most of the ball and a few chances to open the scoring but no clear cut ones. WBA sat back 1st half and showed no intent to win the game which added to the lack of entertainment on show. 2nd half was better than the 1st with the game opening up for some periods which allowed both sides to attacking each other. West Brom showed more intent in the second half but not enough to say they deserved more than a point. Liverpool created some chances and did score but it was ruled out for handball. They were intent in walking the ball into the net and I don't remember them having a shot on goal outside the box. Left the ground at about 21:50 and walked back to get the bus. Got back to Sandhills station at about 22:30 and got the train to Moorfields where I then got the 23:11 back to Chester getting into my room at about 00:15.

Bit of a disappointing trip to a ground I was very much looking forward to visiting. Our coach was late picking us up and subsequently getting to every other pick up point thereafter was a bit of a nightmare due to traffic and the recent snowfall. We also got stuck in the ongoing roadways on the M5 at Oldbury. We had to pick up from the Hawthorns and any one who knows that area will be aware that the journey from the ground back on to the M5 slip road takes about 2 minutes. This evening it took about half an hour due to traffic problems on the motorway. The motorway journey was stop start and as we neared Liverpool everyone was checking their watches. I could hear the conversations going along the lines of the grounds not too far from here. Unfortunately the traffic and a string of traffic lights leading up to the ground which seemed to be constantly on red, hindered our progress. By the time the coach pulled up near to the Arkles pub the game was well under way by about 15 minutes. This was disappointing as I like to have a wander round the outside of the ground first taking a few photos and generally taking in the location and visiting the club shop. As the game had already started and I''d already missed the pre match atmosphere I decided to have a wander round anyway. Plenty of history obviously around Anfield:- the Paisley gates, the Shankly gates with its famous line You''ll Never Walk Alone emblazoned across the top, the Shankly statue and of course the Hillsborough Memorial. The last time I came to Anfield was about 10 years ago when I took my nephew on an Anfield tour coach trip. Much has changed since then and I''m fairly sure that some of these memorials have been moved. Unfortunately there was no one around to ask as the programme sellers had packed up and even the huge club shop had closed it''s doors til the end of the game. I eventually wandered in through the turnstiles and was greeted by some very friendly and helpful stewards. First thing I noticed was that the food and drink concourse was very small. This was confirmed at half time when it was packed to bursting with fans. A surprise as I would have thought that one of the biggest clubs in the world would have had better facilities. I made my way up the steps to a good noise from the travelling Baggie Boys who were located in half of the lower section of the Anfield Rd stand.
