The Premier League campaign returns with a home tie for the Baggies, so a trip up the Hawthorns was in order. Arriving at about 12:30 I took the opportunity to have a wander around the ground, pick up a programme and go autograph hunting. I managed to get Craig Dawson and captain for the day Jake Livermore. I also collared the legend that is Chris Kammy Kamara, who was just on his way in to the ground, presumably on TV duty for the day. The fanzone was busy and was showing the early kick off match between Watford and Liverpool. Inside the ground, over the course of the close season, the Baggies had made a few changes to the stadium. The dull, cold, grey cladding behind the Throstle End (Woodman Corner) had been painted West Brom blue, and a gigantic video screen had been erected and the Throstle emblem had been moved (again. That''s the third time to my knowledge) to sit on top of the screen. A similar screen had been erected in the East Stand so it all looked very impressive. Unfortunately neither screen was working for some reason which was a bit of a let-down. Next game perhaps. A good crowd for the first game of the season and the Bournemouth fans played their part with what appeared to be a near sell out of their allocation and The Smethwick End was in good voice as usual. Tony Pulis has once again divided fan opinion having signed a new contract. Some fans like the stability he brings to the club while others just don''t enjoy his style of football. Let''s be honest, the Baggies are unlikely to do a Leicester City and the Manchester clubs, Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs and Liverpool have more or less got a stranglehold on the top six places so personally I think a happy medium would be to see West Brom go on a good FA or League Cup run rather than just reaching the 40 point safety net then switching off like they did last season. Give the fans something to cheer about Tone.
