Tidy ground, though small. Found myself sitting one row in front of the Portsmouth directors, and five rows behind the Pompey bench. Good game between two good sides. An even first half, but Stevenage had a 2-0 lead, with Pompey hitting the crossbar twice. Pompey without their two most in-form attacking players Bennett and Naismith, and Roberts remained on the bench until 63rd minute for some reason. Great vocal support from the sold-out Pompey end who sang loudly throughout and long after the final whistle. I could still hear them from the ''Mutual Friend'' pub, ten minutes later and about half a mile away. Most memorable moment: Pompey''s sub Conor Chaplin attempting a ''Panenka'' penalty but finding the stationary keeper''s midriff in the way of it!!
Match no. 1280. A great performance and win for Borough who dominated Pompey from start to finish. This was my 50th consecutive 1st team competitive Stevenage home game seen.
Match no. 392.
Portsmouth\s last defeat of the season.
