Pre-match standings:- Coventry 24th/22 pts: Gillingham 17th/35pts I wasn''t entirely sure what to expect from the Ricoh Arena. For a start off it has a capacity of just under 30,000 and I was aware that the crowds were staying away in protest at the way in which the club was being managed on, but even more so, off the field. Also it doesn''t belong to Coventry City- it is owned by Wasps Rugby Club and they rent it back to the Sky Blues. It''s also a conference centre/concert venue/ casino/ hotel so I half expected that the football side of things would come a little way down the list, particularly as Coventry City are languishing at the bottom of League One and almost certain to be relegated. Prior to the game I had purchased a parking ticket for one of the Ricoh car parks so at least that was sorted, although they were expensive at £10 a time. Also had some difficulty ordering the match ticket over the phone as the Ricoh ticket office is run by a company in the North West who deal with the stadium as a venue rather than as a football ground and after getting nowhere very slowly with regards to seating plans etc I decided to give their call centre a miss and set up an online Coventry City account and purchased my ticket that way. change: Friday 14th April. Coventry City 1 Charlton Athletic 1. This result means that the Sky Blues are relegated to league 2. Hopefully the problems on and off the pitch will be sorted during the close season and the club and fans will get the stadium they need. End of season 16/17- Coventry City eventually finished 23rd with 39 points. They did though finish the season with a trophy in the cabinet after beating Oxford United 2-1 in the Checkatrade Trophy at Wembley. They were cheered on by over 40,000 Sky Blues fans. Well done them. Gillingham managed to finish 20th with 50 points- just one point above the drop zone.
