More than 400 mile round trip to get another tick! We managed to park quite near the ground (Monday Crescent) so that was a bonus. The first pub we found was the Black Bull. Not a place to impress your latest lady friend but ok for a decent pint (wish I'd tried the pies at £1.65 - see below) before the match. We then tried the Strawberry near the ground but it was absolutely rammed so we carried on to the Hyena? which had Sky Sports and a great selection of foreign beers including Erdinger Weissbier - a bit dearer but ok for a day out. To the match itself. Newcastle were awful in the first half and Palace were disgusting in their time-wasting tactics. Half time in the Sports Bar. Don't wait at the bar by the food if you want food - you need to queue at the bar with the drinks taps. £3 for a pie isn't bad but they should check that it's more than lukewarm before serving. Great free kick in the second half gave Newcastle a win.
