Wonderful wonderful day. Lovely drive through beautiful Pennine countryside in glorious sunny weather. What a surprise all that was !!! And Rotherham itself is alright with a fabulous huge church slap in the middle. We met up with Graham, Tim Bates and Graham''s mate Martin in The Corn Law Rhymer. Food great and Guinness going down far too easily (Chaz had 3 pints !!) before the short walk to the ground where we sat with the Gillingham supporters behind the goal. The ground is very smart. Brand new last season and not even now completely finished. There is no scoreboard or clock whatsoever. Gillingham were truly awful (and Rotherham pretty good) but the fans around us were amazing in an odd sort of way. Few songs poorly sung and not all together despite there being only about 60 in total. One guy even just sang myer myer myer to an approximation of whatever tune was predominating. In the second half they sang I''m into something good for at least 20 minutes non stop. And a weird counting song about one up?!?!?!?!?!? One Rotherham bloke asked his mate if it was daft cunts on tour. It was a pithy but brilliantly defining statement. After the game it was a long dark drive home but great big smiley faces.
