Saturday 3rd November and Luke and I took the train to Preston to see North End take on Yeovil in the 1st rd of the 2012/13 F.A.Cup at Deepdale. The tickets for this tie cost £15 in all (£10 and £5) which I thought was great value for money. It was a fair walk to the ground from the station and Luke had complained earlier that he felt unwell, but he''s made of stern stuff and soldiered on regardless. We arrived at Deepdale, bought our programme and made our way into the club shop.Luke''s mum,Lisa and myself had earlier agreed to treat him to a PNE football that he had his eye on.Outside the shop was a large burger van and we decided to taste their menu. Not a very good idea really,Luke was not 100% so couldn''t finish his meal and I was not impressed by it either. The chips and some burger ended up in the bin. Anyway we entered he ground in the Tom Finney stand where we were allowed to sit anywhere in the stand. We decided to sit near the halfway line about 8 rows up.A great view. The game itself took quite a while to get going and it was a really cold day to be sitting there without the excitement of the match to warm us up.Preston finally broke the deadlock towards half-time when first Joel Byrom and then ex-Liverpool player David Amoo gave them a 2-0 lead at the interval. As I said it was a cold day,but this time we had come prepared.Lisa had made a flask of chicken soup which went down well with a couple of slices of bread.Much better than the burger and chips.I had earlier taken a couple of photographs of the stadium and at half-time the Preston mascot,a duck, posed for a picture with I think an embarrassed Luke. The 2nd half got under way and came and went much the same as the 1st,with Preston adding one more to their tally when defender Chris Robertson headed home to make the final score 3-0.At least most of the 4,757 were warmed up,and went home happy as Preston progressed into round 2. Our journey home this time was different because we were staying the night in Lisa''s mum''s home in Waterloo,so via Southport we arrived at about 7.30pm where Mollie was also waiting for us.This time with no cakes.Although we were to get some the next day Programme £2
