Caught 6.35 at B Sth (375612) and 7.30 from Paddington (43016). Pleasant sunny cool morning, at Bristol TM a crowd of Rovers fans sat by me. One, covered in tattoos and carrying a plastic bag of bottled beer sat next to me, and was interested that I was going to the game as my 89th ground. They were all getting progressively more noisy and approaching Newton Abbott, where we changed trains, a lady berated them for their bad language, which sadly only made them worse. I was glad to loosen the shackles of this group for a while, but for the short journey to Torquay 10.38 (150129) they ''found'' me again. At Torquay by 10.55 and walked into town. Had snack in nice little cafe of the main street, and then a pint in the Cider Press. I''d earlier caught a bus up to Plainmoor to collect my pre ordered ticket (£17) and walked back to find a cafe. Strolled back up hill to the ground for 14.30 and took my seat behind the goal. Chatted to my neighbour, who recommended Al Jazeera as a good channel for the news and the Indian premier league cricket for entertainment! Rovers, who had a large following at the other end, took the lead on the half hour, in what was largely a kick and rush and head tennis sort of game. But Torquay equalised early in the second half, but Rovers restored their lead soon after. The crowd went mad when the Gulls not only equalised again but took the lead until the 90min when Rovers drew level, to end the game 3 all and Torquay were saved from relegation. I left before the players did a tour of the ground, for the long walk back to the station. My train was at 17.57 (143603), and again changed at Newton Abbott for the18.34 to Paddington via Westbury arr 21.36. Nice quiet journey back with few passengers. Home by 22.40. Fare was £21.10 down and £14.50 back.
