Caught the 7.55(222019) from St Pancras to Chesterfield arr 9.37 walked to bus station for 10.07 63 bus to Ashover to visit All Hallows church. Had a tea at Old Tuck Shop in the village, sitting on what the proprietor told me were two seats from the stands at the Victoria ground, Stoke. Got 11.37 bus back to Chesterfield, visited the old Saltergate site, now a housing estate, then to Queens Park, a lovely park with a lake and miniature railway track running round it. Had a pasta meal in the cafe in the park, back to town phoning Helen on the way, who is in Norwich to see the Fulham game. Had a half in the Sun Inn (£1.40) then on to the Old Market pub for a pint of Abbeydale Brimstone (£3.60) and a chat with a local supporter. Caught special bus to the Proact stadium, was enticed to buy a spare season ticket seat for £15, which gave me a good view from the middle of the pitch, behind the players tunnel. Poor first half, brought to life in the second by new French signing Armand Gnanduillet coming on as sub and scoring then setting up Jack Lester for the second. Friendly fans around me. After the match got bus back to town, the 17.39 (222005) back to St Pancras, and was home by 20.55. Train fare £24.40
