Although I'd been to Upton Park a couple of times previously for Carling Cup fixtures, this was a 'must see' game. In a typically tense atmosphere, the first half was subdued until West Ham opened the scoring just before half-time. Millwall equalised, but a mistake from their 'keeper meant that the hosts won. Other things to note: Kevin Nolan got sent off inside the opening 10 minutes, it was bitterly cold, and it snowed on the way home. Expensive ticket costing £40+, but worth it for the experience of seeing what could be the last ever game between these two rivals at Upton Park.
Ten men for 83 minutes, still dominant against them mugs for first home league win over them since Paul Ince days. Winston Reeeeeeeeeeeeid volleyed winner. Sat in Bobby Moore lower with Clemo and Pricey - few beers in Upminister afterwards.
