Nice little ground although showing signs of age. Some unusual stands - a semi circular terraced affair behind the goal (Merton Meadow end) and a two tier stand (Cargill stand on Edgar St side) with terracing below and seating above - odd looking. I expected a bigger crowd and better atmosphere for a relatively local derby game - but both sets of fans were fairly quiet other than when they attacked/scored. Rovers deserved the lead at half time - Hereford were awful first half - all long ball stuff. But after the break Hereford were a different team - on the floor to feet etc. They equalised through Delroy Facey (who Mick and I last saw playing for Lincoln at Macclesfield) but then the ref stepped in. He gave the most ridiculous straight red card I''ve ever seen for a high boot. There was absolutely no malice in the challenge - it was just an accident - and a yellow would have been fine. But this pr1ck obviously wanted to be centre of attention and sent the lad off - disgraceful decision. With 10 men Hereford went back to long ball and struggled to cope with a revived Rovers. Sure enough Rovers scored and that was that.
Managerless Bristol Rovers ended a run of five successive defeats by beating Hereford, who remain a point clear of the League Two relegation zone. Eliot Richards went close for the visitors before Lee Brown drilled his shot past Adam Bartlett into the far corner of the net. Delroy Facey levelled when he latched on to Benoit Dalibard's through ball. Dalibard was sent off for a dangerous foul on Richards and substitute Scott McGleish headed in the winner. VIEWS FROM THE DRESSING ROOM Bristol Rovers caretaker manager Shaun North told BBC Radio Bristol: It's important to keep the ball as we saw on Saturday in the Cup game where they made us run and run - and we did that well tonight. It's a massive three points given our situation. They are a team that are in and around us and we have to start picking up points at those teams.
