It has been a long time since I have got a new ground in by being a neutral, so went along with Pagey & SSSB. Met Steve on the M1 just outside Leicester, as he had driven from Oxford, left Pagey's car on a residential estate and drove the remaining 50 odd miles together We arrived at Chesterfield about 13:45. Only real landmark is the twisted spire on the church but it is rather unique... now I know why they are called the Spireites. There was a good atmosphere and crowd, basically because Chesterfieldcould clinch promotion to League One today but they just fell short today, as Shrewsbury beat Stockport. Chesterfield are now 12 points, clear with 4 games to play and a superior goal difference, so 99% certain of promotion... shame as we wanted to get onto the pitch. On the way back home, Pagey and I went via Leicester and went pass my old flats, for me to reminisce about good times in Leicester. We also went to Fat F*cks for Doner Kebab and Chips - Fattening but damn good!! Good back home about 20:30.

Went with Hibs and Barnard (who we met at Leicester). Picked Hibs up and found out he had made me some ham, salad and cheese club sandwiches while also bringing me half a cup cake - legend. Barnard if your reading this - sorry that I didnt save you any! We met Steve at Leicester and left my van next to a hotel that seemed to be hosting a Mitusbishi Gary Boy car convention! Got to Chesterfield and found the map the Steve appeared to have drawn 25 years ago very helpful in finding the ground. After a couple of beers in the Donkey Derby we went to the ground. I was told to pick the tickets up from a steward around the edge of the ground which proved more difficult than it should have been and meant we walked right around the ground in search of the steward and her box. The ground was quite nice and better than some of the lower league new grounds and had been designed a bit different. The game finished 2-1 to Chesterfield and wasnt bad although the first half was very poor. We were hoping to join a promotion party but as Shrewsbury won, Chesterfield still need one more point to ensure promotion. On the way home Hibs and I went via Leicester so that we could have tea at Fat Fuc*ks which we used a number of times when he lived their. The usual kebab meat and chips was quality for £3.30 and Hibs had a good look around while remembering happy times spent up there. Good to get another ground off the list after a bit of a break from this hobby.

Attended this game with Pagey and Hibbs. Only highlight of theis game was seeing one large bloke from the visiting fans being ejected after the opening goal.
