Another great night out at a neutral game - really enjoyed it. For a start Lincoln is a beautiful city. The cathedral is lit up at night and can be seen from miles away as you approach. The waterfront is pretty and there''s a small river running right next to the Sincil Bank Stadium. The ground is quite impressive for league two. A large side stand (where I was sat) which houses home and away fans. Two similar sized end stands and then a weird arrangement on the opposite side with a tall but thin (Lincolnshire Echo) stand in the middle, portacabins and space on the left and a small 5th stand (Poachers Corner) on the right. Got in for a fiver (god bless student discount!). Despite the small crowd I was really impressed by the fans. Lincoln had at least 2 drummers + flags everywhere - LCFC Passionistas, Alexander (Keith) 1956-2009 The Great Imp, etc + large flags being waved, italian style. The Oxford fans were quite impressive too - at least 200 on a freezing cold night plus noisy (they hate Swindon apparently). The football was entertaining if lacking in quality - all 4 goals had comic value. Lincoln opened with a scrambled goal that was put in after hitting the post. Oxford equalised after a fumble by the Lincoln keeper. Then in the second half Lincoln scored twice via two own goals - both from intense Lincoln pressure but both bad sliced clearances by Oxford defenders. Enjoyable though. Impressed by Grimes and Facey up front for Lincoln - they caused all kinds of problems. The only downside to the trip was crap food in the ground (no veggie pies). But a cracking Tues night game - loved it.
