Got into the ground during the afternoon while on business in the area. Returned in the evening and having gained entry for £18 to sit anywhere in the main stand, I mistakenly tried to take a seat in the Directors box! (not clearly marked). A friendly Phil Wallace (Stevenage Chairman) moved me on while Paul Scally (Gillingham Chairman) glared at me in disapproval! Took my seat instead just beneath the Director''s and sat with the Stevenage youth team. A lad called Wilson Carvalho asked to read my programme because he had a feature interview inside. Great atmosphere generated by the Stevenage crowd in particular. The attendance of 2,424 seemed much larger owing to the noise they made. At half-time Dwain Chambers (World Sprint Champion) was announced as a ''celebrity in our presence'' but the resident MC had to check with him for his name while he paused in mid-announcement. The fog set in and by the end of the game you couldn''t see one goal mouth from the other. A see-saw game. Good entertainment. Chris Day (Stevenage) and Dennis Oli (Gillingham) ex R''s on duty.

Best food Iv'e ever had at a football ground. Great clubhous. A fantastic experience slightly marred by a jobs worth steward.
