Sheffield Wed 6-2 Bristol Rovers Sheffield Wednesday trounced struggling Bristol Rovers to start new owner Milan Mandaric's reign with a bang. Will Hoskins headed Rovers ahead but the Owls responded in style, scoring four goals in 22 first-half minutes. Chris Sedgwick nodded them level, Tommy Miller lashed home a second and Gary Teale's rebound strike and Jermaine Johnson's solo effort made it 4-1. A 25-yard Hoskins volley gave Rovers hope but substitutes James O'Connor and Paul Heffernan sealed victory. After Hoskins' seventh-minute opener, Sedgwick got the Owls' equaliser when he headed in the rebound from six yards after Clinton Morrison had brought a fine save from goalkeeper Mikkel Andersen. Miller then smashed home a loose ball from 14 yards for the second and, three minutes later, Andersen could not hold Morrison's header and Teale scored from six yards. Just past the half-hour mark, Johnson waltzed through the Rovers defence to fire home the fourth. But, although Rovers improved after the break and Hoskins' second goal gave them hope of a point, O'Connor slotted home the fifth before fellow sub Heffernan rounded off the scoring nine minutes from time.
