A grey drizzly day up in Lancashire proved to be the theme for the day. The trip up with my Mate Al from Central Manchester was very good indeed with the tram taking less than 30 mins. Had a wander round Bury''s famous market. There were plenty of pre and post match boozers around the town centre - the Robert Peel ''spoons being the biggest. The walk down from the town centre was quite short, traversing Coronation Street-like back streets until Gigg Lane came into view. The ground can only really be accessed from Gigg Lane itself, so this meant the turnstiles are all on the one side with a walk right round the back of the stadium to get to the far side. We sat in the South Stand - which is a side stand - in the H of the word SHAKERS. £17 entry. There were seemingly no seat reservations although there was a bewlidering array of stickers plastered over the seats with peoples'' names on them. Just to be on the safe side, we sat in two seats marked unreserved. Popped into the modest refreshment area underneath the stand for a meat and potatoe pie and a tea. The ground itself is compact but good for League 2. All-seater with the Cemtery End to our right being the newest part, looking particularly smart with it''s corner filled in. Indeed, Bury even had their own Sudostkurve group of ultras...well about 15 lads who were really the only people in the ground singing songs and starting off chants! I was actually able to count 55 Dagenham supporters in the away end. Another neat stand with what is apparently Leicester City''s old Filbert St scoreboard atop! On the opposite side of the pitch was the main stand with some curious windows along the touchline. The view from our stand, whilst slightly obstructed by pillars, was pretty good. The match was pretty dire to say the least. The Daggers probably had the better chances in the first half, even though Bury probably had a bit more possession. One guy sat about 10 rows down for us kept on the Linesman''s back the whole game, shouting Watch his feet every time a Dagenham, player took a throw! For the 2nd half a lot of the fans moved down to our end opf the stand so they would be closer to the goal Bury were attacking. This also brought a couple of really negative fans who just spent the 2nd half getting overly angry and frustrated with the team and berating everything they were doing. The game ended 0-0. We had a few pints in the Robert Peel before heading back to the Tram.
