First away Merseyside derby. Liverpool needed to win to go top ahead of Man Utd, Anfield remained quiet and nervous throughout. Us Everton fans occasionally singing where's your famous atmosphere.... Liverpool fans were on edge in what was in large an even game that they needed to win to keep pressure on Utd and challenge for the title. Everton fans equally nervous that it's a tight derby and our bitter rivals may have a chance to win the league. Boom it happens about 70 mins in Gerrard hits a stonker from 25/30 yards out Tim Howard no chance, the Liverpool fans suddenly turn up out of nowhere Gerrard songs, you'll never walk alone, Rafa Benitez songs you name it the lot. As you can imagine it's virtually impossible to get away tickets for this match unless you have like a million loyalty points i.e. have been to every Everton away game for years which we hadn't we're season ticket holders and go all the home games and just a few away days. We managed to get tickets of a friend of a friend, my cousins partners dad about 85 mins in says I'm leaving lads, can't stand these bas***ds at the final whistle. Me, my dad and franks son Woody (my cousins partner) stayed I've never left a game early in my life and never will! 86 on the clock fearing the worst we get a freekick Arteta bends it in diving header from who else but Tim Cahill!! I started dancing with some bald bloke. A bloke who'll I'll never see again but I shared that moment with which I won't forget. Liverpool went on to finish second and the moral of the story is don't leave the game early kids!
