Both teams wore change kits in both games - Spurs in all-yellow and QPR in red shirts and black shorts. Spurs had finished 4th in Div One whilst QPR were 5th in Div Two, 2 points short of promotion. Glenn Hoddle scored an early penalty for Spurs and Steve Archibald hit the post near the end but for the rest of the game QPR were the better side.
