Match no. 481. Hammers were placed 5th in the 2nd Division at the time of this game with Villa occupying the same spot in Division One. Ray Stewart scored the winner with a penalty in the 89th minute, struck low to the keeper''s right at the South Bank end. I was stood on the North Bank and did not see the incident clearly but two Villa defenders jumped for a centre with Alvin Martin and the ref pointed to the spot. That was good enough for me! Unfortunately, this was the only match in Hammers ultimately successful cup run that I was able to attend, having to make do with seeing the final win over Arsenal only on TV.
