The club moved here from Green Lane in 1902 and failed to gain re-election in 1904 but was re-elected in 1905. The Football League match v. Preston North End on April 18th, 1903 was played at Green Lane due to the ground being required by the rugby club and the match v. Leicester City on May 7th, 1921 took place at Old Trafford after the ground was closed following crowd trouble. The club was also involved in Football League Play Off Matches at the neutral venue of Wembley Stadium.
