Lincoln City FC failed to gain re-election in 1908, was elected into Division 2 in 1909, failed to gain re-election in 1911, elected into Division 2 in 1912, failed to gain re-election in 1920, and elected as an original member of Division 3 [N] in 1921. It was the first club to be automatically relegated to the Football Conference in 1987 and was promoted back into Division 4 in 1988. The club was also involved in Football League Play Off Matches at the neutral venue of the Millennium Stadium.
