The club moved here from Dudley Road in 1889. The first ever League penalty kick was awarded here to Wolverhampton Wanderers on September 14th, 1891 v. Accrington (5-0) and scored by John Heath. In 1919 the ground was closed following crowd trouble and two home League matches were played at The Hawthorns. The club was also involved in a Football League Play Off Match at the neutral venue of the Millennium Stadium.
