The club was a founder member of the Football League Division 3 [N] in 1921 and was re-elected on no less than 10 occasions before finally failing in 1972. Bobby Knox of Barrow became the first ever substitute to score a goal in the Football League when he netted here in the 4-2 win v. Wrexham on August 21st, 1965.
