The ground suffered from flooding in November 1946, forcing the club to play one home match at Meadow Lane. Flooding also occurred later in the season in March 1947 but on this occasion did not, as far as is known, entail the playing of home matches at any other venue. GROUND HISTORY

Nottingham Forest FC moved to the City Ground from the Town Ground in 1898 and by WWI a covered main stand had been built on the south side, covering installed at the west end and on the north side and banking constructed at the east end.
The ground remained virtually unaltered until the 1950s when the west end terrace was extended and covered in 1954, a new 2,500 seat stand constructed on the east side and the terracing at the east end enlarged in 1957 giving a nominal capacity of 48,000 with 6,000 seats. During the 1960s the main stand was enlarged, refurbished and re-roofed and, after suffering fire damage in 1968 refurbished again.
A new cantilever roofed two tier all seat stand opened on the north side in 1980 and, in 1992, an all seat stand, was built at the east end and in the north east and south east corners. (To conform with planning requirements this stand is partially of two-tier design with the cantilever roof stepping down to a single tier at the south end). In 1994 a two-tier 6,706 seat stand was opened at the west end and the all seat capacity at the start of the 2007/8 season was 30,602. The pitch size was 112 x 78 yards.

- Turn up County Road for a pint at the Meadows Notts County Social club (cheap booze) and then go up to the next junction and walk across via Lady Bay Bridge and then take the steps down to the Trent River and amble to the ground.
The Nottingham Rowing Club beside the ground welcomes all away fans and neutrals for a small fee but its only 20 yards from the ground.
If you want a pub in the centre of Town then the Company Inn just of Canal Street at Castle Wharf
good food and a section of real ale jus come out of the station turn left walk up Carrington Road then take a left walk down the canal take the bridge and walk up to the pub.
Ye Olde Trip To Jerusalem pub in Brewhouse Yard Castle Road, is one of Englandβs oldest pubs Great little old pub nice good food the staff very helpful dinner is really nice. There are lots to see while youβre there and it as a good selection of beers and wines.

Leave the M1 at Junction 26 and take the A610 towards Nottingham and then signs for Stapleford and Nottingham and at the roundabout take the first exit and follow the road to the City Centre in Nottingham at the Upper Parliament roundabout take second exit and follow the sign for the station into Maid Marian Way and keep in the left lane after St Nicholas church then at the roundabout take the second exit onto London Road Cross the River Trent and take the first left after the bridge you will see the ground on your right.
South
Leave the M1 at Junction 24 and take the third exit at the roundabout onto the A453 towards Nottingham. Then take the junction for Nottingham Derby and Grantham and take the second exit on to the A52 and then at the next take sign towards Grantham and at the first exit on the A52 then take the first exit onto the A60 into Nottingham. The ground is situated just before the bridge on London Road so take a left and park down by the rowing club Β£4.00.
- Public transport
- The ground is walkable from Nottingham railway station (20 mins). As you come out of the main station entrance, turn left into Queens Road and then left again into London Road. Then walk along the ground.
