GROUND HISTORY adapted from "The Ultimate Directory of English & Scottish Football League Grounds"
Glossop North End FC moved here from The New Pyegrove in time to coincide with their debut season in the Football League in 1898. The North Road venue was already an established cricket ground and the football pitch was tucked into the south east corner. A seated stand and dressing rooms were built on the north side of the pitch and embankments constructed along the south side and at the east end. A temporary wooden seated stand, removed during the cricket season, was installed at the west end.

The record attendance of 10,736 was set at the FA Cup 2nd Round tie v. Preston North End  (0-1) on January 31st, 1914. Following the demise of Glossop FC, the football pitch continued in use and the venue is still utilized as a sports ground.
