Arsenal | 8 Jan 1887 | 30 Jun 1887 | This was Arsenal's first ground, although it was just a pitch marked out on the Common with goalposts carried from a local back-garden. Three local pubs were used as changing rooms and the ever ambitious Arsenal were pretty soon on the look-out for a proper ground. Only 5 games were played on the Common, which was badly rutted due to the Royal Artillery exercising their horses on it. Arsenal moved to the Sportsman''s Ground at the end of the 1886/87 season. |
