GROUND HISTORY adapted from "The Ultimate Directory of English & Scottish Football League Grounds"
Construction of the ground commenced in the 1920s with the embankments composed of dumped refuse forming an oval bowl with a limited amount of cover on both sides but a nominal capacity of 150,000. When the Odsal Stadium opened in 1934, Bradford Northern RLFC moved in and as well as rugby the venue was used for speedway, stock-car racing, pony trotting and show jumping.

The stadium saw very little development before the record attendance of 102,569 was set at the Rugby League Challenge Cup Final Replay between Halifax and Warrington in May 1954. In 2002 it was refurbished as the home ground for Bradford Bulls RLFC.
