GROUND HISTORY adapted from "The Ultimate Directory of English & Scottish Football League Grounds"
Sited on the west side of the city, Chester FC moved to Sealand Road from Whipcord Lane in 1906 and by 1911 covered and open stands had been constructed on the west side and a short open stand installed at the south end.

A full length cover was subsequently built at the south end and, just before the club joined the Football League in 1931, a new main stand opened on the west side. At this time the ground was re-named as The Stadium and, apart from the installation of a roof on the east side which was extended in 1968, no further alterations took place until a new main stand was constructed in 1979.
The record attendance of 20,500 was set at the FA Cup 3rd Round replay v. Chelsea (2-3) on January 16th, 1952 and the club left to groundshare with Macclesfield Town FC at Moss Rose in 1990. The main stand roof was sold to Port Vale in 1992 for installation at Vale Park and the site subsequently used for a retail park.
