Pre match standings:- Burnley 15th/39 : WBA 8th/44. I think I''m correct in saying that Turf Moor is one of the few grounds where a police motorbike escort is required in order to get away fans coaches to the match quickly and safety. Today they would have their work cut out as West Brom had laid on free travel and over 40 coaches were expected. As our coach pulled off the M65 the police were already waiting for us. We had to wait a while as a few other coaches had to catch up with us and the police didn''t want to take one at a time. Eventually several motorbikes disappeared round the corner and we were on our way. I hadn''t been to Turf Moor before so I did wonder why an escort was required. It soon became apparent as the roads leading to the ground are very narrow and winding. It''s a well known fact that the Hawthorns is the highest ground in England. I thought Turf Moor would come a very close 2nd as we wound our way up and up until we reached the highest point, after which we began our descent. This is where the escort came into play stopping all other traffic and allowing us to snake our way down and down, round a few hairpin bends past some vert nice stone built properties and eventually into Harry Potts Way-and Turf Moor. End of season16/17- Burnley finished 16th on 40 points and secured themselves a place in the Premier League for another season.
