Up at 5.15 and catch 6.16 from B Sth (375811) to Vic, Victoria line closed, so District then Northern to Euston. 7.35 (390136) to Crewe, (very misty in places) arr 9.10. To Chester on 9.23 (150235) arr 9.46. Decided to travel Wirral line, so 10.19 to Wrexham General (175113) arr 10.34 £3.25. Walked into town and had breakfast before leaving from Wrexham Central at 11.30 on 150279 (£3.55) to Bidston arr 12.30. Merseyrail 12.36 to Hamilton Square (508140) then 507015 to Rock Ferry arr 13.04. Sunny as I walk up to Prenton Park. Welcomed by a suited gentleman outside the main entrance, with a firm handshake. Got a ticket in Main stand (£12) then went to the Prenton Park pub for a couple of pints of San Miguel (£3.15) no real ale. Good seat behind the directors box. Both teams played good open passing football and Yeovil struck early with a breakaway goal, after Tranmere has been close at the other end. A similar goal on the half hour gave Yeovil a 2 goal lead, but you fancied Tranmere would come back. And just before halftime they did. The stand I was in had been very quiet up to that point, no shouting encouragement, unlike the large home stand behind the goal. Two more Tranmere goals in the second half gave them a well deserved win, they are now 12 games unbeaten in the league since the start of the season and 7 points clear at the top on League 1. Left as injury time started for the 20 minute walk back to Rock Ferry, for the 17.14 to Lime Street (308134). Then Virgin Trains 17.48 (390154) to Euston. These journeys have cost £8.90 each way, booked in mid Aug. My seat was non windowed which had less shoulder room, but I had both seats to myself. Only stopped at Runcorn & Stafford so I was back in town at 19.57. 25 min tube journey to Vic just missed 20.25 and waited for 20.52 (375830) to B Sth. Walked home and in by 21.30 after a good day out.

On Saturday 13th October we took ourselves to see Division 1 table toppers Tranmere Rovers entertain Yeovil.A bit of preparation was done the previous day when I caught the train from Aintree train station to Rock Ferry.A 20 minute walk followed till I reached the ground and bought our tickets (£18.50 for mine and £5 for Luke''s).So the next day we set out together to make the same journey I had made the previous day, only this time we stopped at a little bakers shop where Luke enjoyed a sausage and bacon barmcake. On arrival at the ground we had a wander around the shop and spotted ex-Everton player and manager Joe Royle outside the ground. We took our places once again in the Family Enclosure and settled down to watch a really exciting game with Yeovil taking an early 2-0 lead before Rovers'' captain James Wallace pulled one back before half-time to give the home side a lifeline. The fight back was completed in the 2nd half when Cassidy and Holmes scored to give Rovers a 3-2 victory to keep them at the top of the table. The game was really exciting and Luke told me later he wanted to support Tranmere from now on.Only joking of course, but it was a great game and we did join in with the superwhite army chant. 6,344 fans turned up to see it and we''re all entertained. The short journey got us in the house at 6.30pm in time to see us make another television appearance,as the TV cameras once again picked us out in the crowd. Programme £3
