The nearest ground geographically to my house and the game gave everything you would expect from lower division football. Passion, poor quality and banter. We watched the game from the Bury Road End which was so close to the pitch you could feel every tackle that took place. During the warm up the ball flew so hard and frequent into the stand that you felt the admission so have come with insurance.

The game was a tale of two halves and thankfully all the action was at our end. Dagenham were really poor first half and Morecambe took their chances and within 15 minutes were two nil up. Daggers goal keeper Tony Roberts had a shocking day with the boot. Slicing it left and right so much that if it emulated his drives off the tee he would have packed up his clubs before he started the back nine.

The beautiful game it was not but what made it so enjoyable was the banter on the terraces and between players and supporters. Several times the crowd shouted at certain players and they responded in  - - - - - - - a jokey playful manner. The bigger grounds can lose that connection between players and fans but that could not be said of this ground.

The steak pie was the best so far and at £2 it was a bargain. The fork was a lovely extra although the plastic container provided was a little unnecessary.

Good old fashioned football fair, what it lacked in quality it more than made up for in entertainment and comedy. An example of that was Morecambe defender Henry McStay clattering into the post and laying injured on the floor. My Pat remarked quick as a flash that "he will be McStaying on the floor for some time." Good times.
