GROUND HISTORY adapted from "The Ultimate Directory of English & Scottish Football League Grounds"

This constrained site was an area of waste grassland when Rotherham County FC moved to Millmoor in 1905. The original facilities included an embankment along the east side and two small stands whilst a cover was later installed at the south end. A main stand was built on the west side in 1920, a cover installed at the east side in 1928 and a track was laid for the greyhound racing which took place during the 1930s.

Post WWII improvements were made following the purchase of the ground from British Railways in 1949. The terracing was concreted, the north end expanded (and subsequently roofed), the main stand roof extended over the paddock and the south end enlarged and re-roofed before the end of the 1960s, whilst the 1970s saw the installation of seating under the cover on the east side. Further alterations were the installation of an additional cover and seating on the east side and seating in the main stand paddock. In 2005 the main stand, was demolished and replaced with a 4,200 seat cantilever roofed structure in 2007 [although only partially completed] giving an all-seated capacity of 7,500 at the start of the 2007/8 season . The The pitch size was 115 x 70 yards.
