Hoyles) Match Report Having kept eight clean sheets since the start of the New Year, Falmouth have now conceded 3 goals in each of their last 3 games. Town beat St. Blazey 4 – 0 at Bickland Park just two weeks ago and now the total turn around in their fortunes since then has seen them drop to 4th place in the table and left their supporters mystified. St. Blazey showed more running and conviction than Town in the first half and Jason Chapman was forced into making several superb saves as Town’s defence, minus the experienced Sean Flynn, were forced on to the back foot time and time again. The home side took the lead after 30 minutes. Following a break on the left flank by Ashley Piggott who controlled the ball well and played a dangerous cross into the middle where Chris Reski found room to fire home despite the close attentions of the Town defence. Sixty seconds later Town’s task became even harder as Tom Barwell, unaccustomed to playing in a defensive role, brought down a St. Blazey player as he raced towards the penalty area and the referee, Steve Paul, was left with no choice other than to show him the red card. The resultant free-kick showed just why Jason Chapman is regarded as one of the best keepers in the league as he pulled off a great save to keep Town in with a shout. Sam Cooper was causing Falmouth’s defence lots of problems with his cross field runs, and with Danny Zalick and Danny Brooks pushing up from mid-field at will, the half-time break could not come quick enough. The second half started disastrously for Falmouth as Zalick thumped home a great shot from close in, following a long cross in from the left flank. Following this, Ben Stidwell limped off to be replaced by Jimmy Alexander as Town looked to push forward in an attempt to rescue something from the game. Justin Crowley surged forward and hit a fine dipping shot from 25 yards that flew just wide of Tom Blackler’s far post and then Nigel Thwaites put over a useful looking cross, but Lee Bradd got his head to it first, as he did for most of the match, and the ball was cleared away. Richard Kellow was the next Falmouth player to sustain an injury and he was replaced by Liam Eddy who went up front to partner Ryan Fice: Matt Drummond moving out to the right to accommodate the change. After 68 minutes, St. Blazey forced another corner which was met at the near post by Jay Isbell who planted a firm header into the back of the net to put the home side in an unassailable position. St. Blazey then mad three substitutions over the next ten minutes as they altered their attacking options due to Falmouth pressing forward looking for some consolation. Dan Green forced a good blocking save out of Blackler and the rebound saw Ryan Fice’s shot blocked by Dave Trott. After 83 minutes Falmouth got a late reward for their efforts when Justin Crowley hammered home from 12 yards for his first goal for Town.
