Chose the ferry from Holyhead that got me into Dublin around 1pm, had been to the city once before but not for the footy so had only seen the old Lansdowne road from the dart(metro train). My original plan was to stay in Scotland after the city game on Weds and watch the Hearts euro game however when my accomodation fell through i reverted back to the original plan and the Connahs Quay game in Rhyl. I was aware that i had seen a game in England(Tranmere) on Tuesday, Scotland Wednesday(Edinburgh City) and Wales on Thursday (Connahs Quay) it felt natural to look at the games in Ireland and try for the four games in four Countries in four days(watching teams fm six countries with Northern Ireland represented by Derry and Serbia by FK Vojvodina). The problem was with no advance booking, prices looked too steep with flights costing from £200 and the cheapest online ferry being £69 however when calling i was offered the 24hour return for £40 game on! Although i new all the team names from the league my geography wasn''t gireat so had to phone a friend to find out which teams other than the national stadium played in and around the city Bohemians, U.C.D, Shamrock rovers, Shelbourne, St Patricks(5) was the answer. I wanted to visit them all initially teletext said both Bohemians and St Patricks had home games on Friday however this was amended as the latter had a home European game the night before so their game was postponed. Little did i realise Shelbourne were also at home but being in the tier below the fixture wasn''t obvious. After research which took another hour i came to the conclusion Shamrock and UCD would be too much so tried for three. I bought a 24hour travel ticket for 10 euros and jumped a bus to Tolka park Shelbourne and as it transpired the highlight of the trip thanks to Johnny the jack of all trades who showed me all around the ground which in it''s day looked great however this had been and gone and as much as i loved it it was delapidated. Next a bus across to St patricks unfortunatley the staff had left an hour before i arrived and pictures where limited as it was hemmed in. Confusion to the bus numbers saw me arrive later than planned at Dalymount 45mins before Kick off. The game was on tv on a channel formerly known as Setanta and their was a minutes silence for a club stalwart and stand sponser who had unfortunatley passed away days before, on asking if i could take a few ground shots i was asked that after i had that i moved to the opposite end of the stand for my own safety and avoid the local idiots who might take offence to my accent. Derry got the goal in the first half and looked more dangerous up front. My ferry back was at 02.15 and with time to kill i decided to walk the miles after a pint of course.
