Whilst the result was a bitter disappointment, we can have no excuses. The Kent League side played with great determination, defended stoutly all night and fully deserved their success. Our lads played some neat football at times, but sadly there was no end product. In the first-half, visiting ''keeper Mikelle Czanner made a couple of smart saves and we might have had a penalty for a trip in the box, but generally there was no cutting edge to our play. The only goal of the game came in the 34th minute when we lost possession on the half-way line and the ball was played through to Keelan Mooney who shrugged off James Dunn''s challenge to slip the ball into an empty net. After the interval, Sol Pinnock forced another fine save from Czanner and later delivered an inviting cross which we failed to convert, but we created little else. We committed more men forward, and moved Justin Bowen up front during the closing stages but our opponents continued to defend stubbornly, and might have added a second goal in the odd counter-attack. As the match went into stoppage-time, we had one final chance to force extra-time, from a Kevin James corner, but Justin Bowen''s header went wide.
