| On the surface, Charlton is not a very pretty place and - especially under a grey sky - can look and feel a little intimidating. The reality (to us) was totally different. Everybody everywhere we went was friendly and pleasant. The entire day had that old south London feel that you see in black and white movies.
The Millenium Suite is worth every penny and extremely good value. We (including H&W) were there shortly after 12:30 and didn't leave until a little over 6 hours later. There's a great view of the pitch from the windows running the full length of the lounge, superb (carvery) quality and sensibly priced food and enough bar staff to make sure there was never a long wait. Big screen TVs all around the room meant we could enjoy the Sky games before and after our match and our seats were less than 20 yards away from the our table in the lounge.
The stadium itself is a little lop-sided with a big terrace at one end and a little one the other but the fans (from both team) were great throughout. Can't say the football itself was particularly brilliant but it was entertaining and exciting to the end.
Just for the record, we walked back from here to the Rose of Denmark for a pint (again in relaxed and friendly company) before a great meal at Effe - a Turkish restaurant towards Greenwich.
Another brilliant day out !!!!
