MCALPINE STADIUM

McAlpine Stadium has been a League ground
for 17 seasons;
from June 1st, 1994
to the current day .

McAlpine Stadium was the 169th
ground to be used for a League game.

Constructed on the site of industrial wasteland, Huddersfield Town moved across the River Colne from Leeds Road in 1994. Upon opening, the award-winning stadium (it received the RIBA Building of the Year Award in 1995) consisted of a two tier 8,281 seat stand on the west side and a 7,329 seat stand on the east. Within months of the first game a 4,053 seat stand was opened at the south end and in 1996 the stadium was completed with the construction of an all seater stand at the north end. The main feature of the design is the near-elliptical planform of the stadium with each roof supported by a banana shaped truss.

The name of the ground was changed to The Galpharm Stadium and the capacity for the 2007/8 season was 24,500 and the pitch size 116 x 75 yards.
