RODNEY PARADE

Rodney Parade has been a League ground for 6 seasons;
from July 1st, 2013 to the current day .

Rodney Parade was the 227th

Year opened 2012

GROUND HISTORY adapted from "The Ultimate Directory of English & Scottish Football League Grounds"

The Club moved to Rodney Parade, the home of Newport and Newport Gwent Dragons Rugby Clubs, in 2012. The ground is situated on the East Bank of the River Usk and was first used in 1877 when Newport RFC moved in.

On the East side is the new all-seated Bisley Stand, which has a capacity of just over 2,500 orange and black seats. It is single tiered and incorporates 13 executive boxes that run along the back of the stand.

Opposite the Bisley Stand is the much older Hazell Stand, which has seating to the rear and terracing to the front. It does not run the full length of the pitch and has a section of open terracing on one side towards the North end. The North or Town End as it is also known was re-built in 2010. This is a small open terrace which is quite set-back from the playing area. In one corner between the North Terrace and Bisley Stand there are some Club offices. This end is not open for matches although it may be used when a larger crowd is expected.

The South End is largely unused for spectators for football. In the corner is another building with a large pyramid shaped roof. This houses the dressing rooms so the teams come onto the pitch from this corner of the ground. There is also an electric scoreboard mounted on the front of this building.

The capacity for football matches is currently capped at around 5,000 although the ground has an official capacity of 11,676 for Rugby.
