THE CIRCLE
Club Crest by kind permission of Hull City AFC

The Circle was a League ground for 34 seasons

from 1 September 1906 to 27 August 1939

The 81st ground to be used for a League game

Opened: 1905  •  Closed: 1906

GROUND HISTORY adapted from "The Ultimate Directory of English & Scottish Football League Grounds"
The home ground of Hull Cricket Club the arena was, as the name implied, virtually circular with a main pavilion on the west side and another smaller pavilion on the north. Hull City FC was accommodated from 1905 and they installed a covered stand and a 1,000 capacity temporary stand. The orientation of the pitch, on the map, is assumed. The cricket ground was vacated in 1906 with Hull City FC moving to the Anlaby Road ground which had been constructed on the east side of the site.

The Circle remained in use as the home ground of the Hull CC until just prior to 2002 when this site and part of the Anlaby Road ground were taken over for the development of the Kingston Communications Stadium for the use of both Hull City FC and Hull RLFC.
